Hello! I am so excited to be your teacher during this important year of learning. Students, we have so much to learn and accomplish together this year. Let me begin with a little bit about my academic background for your reference. I have a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Zoology. I earned my Masters degree in Social Work majoring in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work. Following this, I worked as an Adoption Counselor and Birth Parent Counselor both in India as well as here in the United States. I have had an opportunity to live in Connecticut and Arizona before moving to this beautiful and growing city of Austin. I volunteered as a PTA member and worked as a substitute teacher during the break that I took from my rewarding profession of social work to help my family adjust to the new move. Following my teaching certification through Region XIII, I joined the wonderful Elsa England family. This is my ninth year teaching fifth grade at Elsa England Elementary.I have a teaching certification in 4th-8th Math and Science, EC - 6th Generalist and ESL. I was very fortunate to attend the Summer Writing Institute organized by the National Writing Project Program at University of Texas, Austin and then to be part of The Writing in Science cohort as well as The Reading Rocks cohort in RRISD. I have been married for 23 years to my wonderful husband and we have two children. My daughter is a junior at University of Austinmajoring in Environmental Science, my son is a junior at Round Rock High school, and our dog, Gypsy , is a 7 year old free spirited Aussiedoodle. I love reading, painting and dancing apart from teaching my precious students. I really look forward to learning and working with you wonderful kiddos. Together, we will make this a truly productive year!
